In a rapidly changing social environment in the digital era, the rapid transition from face-to-face to non-face-to-face due to the COVID-19 pandemic is making the issue of digital divide more important. In particular, the need for research related to changes in digital information technology awareness due to COVID-19 among seniors aged 65 and older, a vulnerable group for digital information was raised. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the relationship between seniors" internet usage and changes in digital information technology awareness after COVID-19 and the mediating effect of social capital. In this study, 4,377 seniors aged 65 years or older from the 2021 digital digital divide fact-finding survey of the National Information Society Agency were tested according to the research method using simple regression analysis, multiple regression analysis, and mediation regression analysis procedures. The research results are as follows. First, there was a significant quantitative correlation between changes in seniors" internet (PC, mobile) usage and social capital. Second, it was found that the change in seniors" internet capacity had a significant effect on the change in digital information technology perception after COVID-19. Third, social capital was found to have a complete mediating effect in the relationship between changes in seniors" internet (PC) usage and changes in digital information technology awareness after COVID-19. Finally, social capital was found to have a partial mediating effect in the relationship between changes in seniors" internet (mobile) usage and changes in digital information technology awareness after COVID-19. This study proposes the need and plans for bridging the digital divide and supporting policies due to seniors" internet use in a non-face-to-face digital society caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
