In the case of Korea, industrial concentration strategies using regional specialties have been mainly used in economic growth periods. However, it can lead to a long-term recession in the local economy and negative affect economic recovery. Therefore, there have been continuous discussions related to industrial diversity that the economic resilience of the city should be strengthened by securing various industries in the city. This study examined how industrial diversity affects the growth and decline of cities for local regions and districts in 17 cities and provinces in Korea, focusing on the economic resilience of cities. In the case of urban resilience, it was calculated using drop indicators, rebound indicators, and resilience indicators. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that industrial diversity had a significant effect on the economic recovery of the region, and that the appropriate population size and industrial structure advancement also had a positive effect on the economic recoveries of the regions. Therefore, this study is meaningful in that industrial diversity has different influences depending on population size, region, and industrial structure, providing implications for establishing effective economic recovery policies in preparation for future shocks to the local economy.
