This study investigated renewable energy penetration rate of low carbon energy sharing residential community and zero energy building certification grade integrated with building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems. Renewable energy penetration rates were evaluated by analyzing annual power generation of BIPV systems and energy consumption of cooling, heating, hot water, lighting, and ventilation in community. The renewable energy power generation rate was simulated by Solar Pro software and compared with experimental data of five months. Depending on the installation location of community, six different cases were investigated. As a result, Case 1 had an annual power generation of 113,960.4 kWh and renewable energy penetration rate of 75.8%, which was a ZEB certification grade 3rd. Case 2 had a renewable energy penetration rate of 82.95%, which was a ZEB certification grade 2nd. Case 3 has a renewable energy penetration rate of 82.95%, which was a certification grade 1st was 102%. Case 4 had a renewable energy penetration rate of 109.3%, which satisfied the ZEB certification grade 1st. Case 5 for community center met ZEB certification grade 1st. Case 6 for entire energy sharing residential community showed 120.5% of renewable energy penetration rate, which satisfied the 1st grade of ZEB certification.
