This thesis is written from the perspective of intercultural translation, analyzing the medical treatment of indigenous people in Tian Jacob’s Practice Medicine in Lanyu. Tian Jacob has the initiative of cultural translators and challenges the system, he created a new cross-border for the language, ethnicity and politics of medicine. In this article, the indigenous doctor writer Tian Jacob plays the role of a cultural translator in the Practice Medicine in Lanyu. He translated, in the cross-cultural field, the cross-border between doctors and patients, the Bunun and the Tao, and the indigenous people and the Hans, creating a unique medical treatment of indigenous people. Under the framework of intercultural translation, we assume that Tian Jacob’s indigenous medical writing represents a cross-border of two languages, two cultures, and two worlds. We also propose that the “cross-border” and “Translation” should be regarded as an important contribution of contemporary indigenous medical treatment.
