In 2018, Korea has entered an aging society as the proportion of elderly population has reached 14.3%. Therefore, the importance of the accessibility of medical services and the residences of the elderly within the community has become an important research topic in the field of health care. The aim of this study is to analyze the distance between apartments and hospitals among the working age population, the young population, and the elderly population. The purpose of this study is to make suggestions for the future location selection of hospitals and clinics and to provide basic data for establishing health and medical support-related policies. The study targeted apartments in Gangnam-gu and Nowon-gu. The apartments were classified and selected by age groups using QGIS. The distance of clinics, oriental clinics, dentists, and general hospitals near the selected apartments was measured. In addition, the distance from the center point of the hospital-intensive area to the selected apartments was measured. Furthermore, the Z-score was used to compare Gangnam-gu and Nowon-gu. Although the result of this study showed that Nowon-gu had a higher proportion of elderly population compared to Gangnam-gu, the distance from the hospital to the apartments of the elderly population in Nowon-gu was farther. The results also showed that compared to the distance to the hospital for the working age population and the young population, the distance to the hospital from the apartments for the elderly population was even farther. Therefore, it is necessary to pay more attention to the elderly population when choosing the location of hospitals and clinics in the future.
