The COVID-19 pandemic is changing many parts of human life, one of which is the work environment. Since COVID-19 started, interest in shared offices has increased. Telecommuting was mainly proposed in the early stages of the outbreak to avoid the virus, but shared office spaces showed the advantages of being able to be used according to users’ needs, performing different tasks and improving task efficiency, rather than spaces with many obstacles. Countries such as the United States and Europe have a long history of the shared workplace and have a better understanding of systems and user needs. Along with this, the interest in office hoteling and hybrid working systems also increased, as most shard offices work with these systems, which are used not only for the work environment itself, but also for the work efficiency of the space users. For this study, a total of 6 cases of shared workplaces, 3 each from the United States and Europe, were selected and analyzed based on their spatial composition. The result showed that the shared workspace in the United States is composed of various divided workspaces and common spaces for networking, while the shared office in Europe has a composition of space that focuses on coworking and a homelike setup. This study provides suggestions for shared office spaces and envisioned the future directions of the design and management of shared workspaces.
