This study investigates and analyzes the operation and ordinance status of City Architects targeting local governments in Korea. In particular, it is premised on the importance of local government ordinances to secure the stability, continuity and effectiveness of City Architect operation in the current domestic situation. As a result of the research, City Architect is operated in 76.5% of metropolitan cities and 23.9% of local governments. Among them, 67.2% of cases provided the basis for operation and set details through ordinances. In this study, definitions, qualification standards, tenure, working methods, scope of work, remuneration, work procedures, and dismissal were compared based on the City Architect ordinances. Among them, there is a difference in the existence and content of regulations on the scope of work and procedures. This study is meaningful in that it comprehensively analyzed the operation status of all local governments and the implementation of ordinances at a time when City Architect operation is spreading in Korea. Based on this analysis, it is necessary to draw important articles necessary for enactment and revision of the City Architect ordinance through detailed comparison of the content of the ordinance in the future.
