This study aims to establish a strategy for improving the parts in which forestry makes insufficient contributions to income growth and regional economic development in Gyeonggi-do, though it does various forestry activities through excellent forest resources.
Gyeonggi-do is the largest bio-industry cluster in Korea and has the best environment in Korea also in terms of the number of employees and sales. Especially, most bio-industry companies that utilize natural materials deriving from the forest resources are located in it.
Considering this, it is judged that preparing the foothold on which forest bio companies can be smoothly provided with natural materials deriving from forest resources and connecting this to forestry workers would make the production of forest resources lead to incomes.
This study presented the research results as follows. First, this study presented business plans that included business, organization, and human resources that could revitalize the industries utilizing natural resources deriving from forest resources. Second, this study presented measures for Gyeonggi-do’s participation in the business implemented by the Forest Service as a project. Third, this study chose a site that would become the forest bio-industrial hub in Gyeonggi-do and set necessary facilities and organizations. Fourth, this study drew validity by analyzing the economics of the forest bio-industry in Gyeonggi-do.
