This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of suicide prevention programs, we conducted a meta-analysis of 78 articles that met the selection criteria among articles published in Korea until march 2021, by dividing them into the risk groups and the general groups. The total effect size of the risk group and the general group were 1.04 and .70, respectively. There were great effect sizes in depression, hopelessness suicide thoughts, and well-being among risk groups, and great effect sizes were shown in death anxiety, depression, self-respect, relationship, and respect for life among general groups. A moderator analysis of the subgroups showed that there is no difference in the effect size of in the risk group, but in the general group, the effect size was greater when participants were elderly, social integration program, for programs with more than 10 sessions, group members were less than 10. This study is meaningful that it provides a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the effects of suicide prevention programs in Korea by comparing characteristics between risk groups and general groups, and it suggests considerations in designing suicide prevention programs. Based on the results, the limitations of the study and directions for future research were also discussed.
