The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of aerobic exercise at the mid-rest point of HIIT exercise in suppressing muscle fatigue and increase in RPE, thereby providing a methodological suggestion to supplement the physiological disadvantages of high-intensity exercise. The subjects of the study were men in their 20s who were not trained in HIIT exercise, and for generalization of the study results, 20 normal subjects with a lactate level of 3 m㏖/L or less were selected through a screening test. The HIIT exercise program of all participants was the same, and based on the activity at the mid-rest point, 10 people in the Aerobic Exercise Group and 10 people in the Stretching Exercise Group were divided. HIIT exercise was performed in the same way, and only the activities at the mid-rest point were distinguished. Measurements of muscle fatigue factor lactate and exercise continuity factor PRE were equally applied to all subjects. A total of 2 sets were performed, consisting of a 15-minute HIIT exercise program and a 3-minute rest activity in one set. The measurement time was collectively measured at the pre-measurement (1st), the end of the first set (2nd), and the end of the second set (3rd). Through this study, the following conclusions are drawn. 1. The aerobic exercise of the middle rest activity has a significantly lower lactate increase on average than the stretching exercise. 2. The average RPE increase of the aerobic exercise of the middle rest activity is significantly lower than that of the stretching exercise. 3. The aerobic exercise of the mid-rest activity is significantly more effective in suppressing muscle fatigue than the stretching exercise. 4. The aerobic exercise of the mid-rest activity is significantly more effective in suppressing REM than the stretching exercise.
Therefore, if the middle rest activity is actively used as aerobic exercise during the HIIT exercise program, it can be suggested as an effective method to suppress muscle fatigue and increase in REM.
