Illustration has permeated people`s lives deep into their skin from the bottom of the pop culture. It has created its own values enough to concoct the biased view which considers it a simple method for commercial communications. Differently from the pure art which put stress on art spirit isolated from the general people, illustration has not only presented the possibilities of shortening the distance between the pure art and the general people but also established its own position in art as a new genre. In order to analyze the basis of the general aspects of modern illustration, this study tried to examine how the illustration was affected by the artistic understanding and expression methods of the 20th century painting and to grasp the modern concepts and formation ideology of the illustration.
