Battlefield leadership means the leadership exercised by a leader to overcome various battlefield limitations and achieve victory. The ultimate purpose of leadership is to nurture battlefield leadership in achieving victory in battle. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to provide training methods to apply at field units and educational institutions based on the key elements of battlefield leadership. These elements are inferred from the most recent battle following the shelling at Yeonpyeong-do that soldiers can feel convincingly empathy, collected through participants and memoir analysis.
The research analyzed relevant theories and preceding research to identify four key factors of battlefield leadership: practical training and education, nurturing of a will to fight and unit cohesion, leadership by example, and management of battlefield fears.
The whereabouts of battlefield leadership in military leaders at the shelling at Yeonpyeong-do, and the conduct of unit members collected from veteran testimonies and memoir analysis were analyzed based on the identified elements. As a result of the analysis, it found that victory was achieved through the positive manifestation of each battlefield leadership key element under the conditions of the shelling.
In conclusion, The battlefield leadership training method in field units and school institutions was divided into battlefield leadership training that small units, executives, and all units will master to cultivate key elements of battlefield leadership(4). Each battlefield leadership training included training tasks and training contents (drafts), training methods, and progress procedures.
It is expected that intangible combat power, which is the key element of transmission, will be further maximized by further developing practical alternatives to battlefield leadership, such as developing evaluation scales through core elements, quantification, and practical training methods through continuous theoretical discussions on battlefield leadership.
