This study aims to conduct a systematic review about CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) to analyze the international trend of the study. PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) was conformed to select 155 papers that correspond to the research area. A review was conducted on the selected papers and analyzed by each research period, research subjects, space types, research method, and research objective to observe the aspect of the research. The research findings showed that research about urban space and residential areas comprised a high ratio, and the research subjects were mainly residents and the public. For the investigation method of the study, surveys and field study were the main methods, and guidelines had the highest ratio as the research objectives. In addition, despite the annual increase in urban crime rate, the research about CPTED is decreasing. Therefore, a new perspective is required to improve the decline of CPTED research. Empirical research and the improvement of theory is necessary and the research method must be diversified.
