Objective: This presentation is aimed to suggest an application scheme of eye movement data to evaluate the effectiveness of displays that can be used to assist nuclear power plant operators during accident situations.
Background: Most of objective measures such as physiological measures are determined by data obtained from specific measurement devices. Data has to be processed by pre-processing and subsequent dedicated processes, which are very time consuming and demanding so the use of an objective measure must be carefully determined. Eye movement is a direct clue to where humans are paying attention, which are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the displays. Gaze plots and heatmaps, as representative types of eye movement data, are effective in determining the overall trend of eye movement, but they have the disadvantage of being difficult to measure quantitatively. To get over this problem, methods have been studied that can be used to calculate entropy from gaze plots and heatmaps using the concept of information theory. Various support systems have been proposed to assist emergency response staffs in accident situations of nuclear power plants. Each system provides individual displays according to the purpose and functions and the effectiveness of them against accident situation has to be evaluated. Displays of ISD (Information Sharing Display), MOAS (MACST Operation Assistance System), SIMS (SPDS Improvement for SAMG), and EID (Ecological Interface Design) for severe accidents have been dev ... 전체 초록 보기
