Objective: This study aimed to analyze the behavior of the excretion care robot so as to quantify the care burden experienced by caregivers using it for bedridden patients. Background: The excretion of bedridden patients in long-term care settings is an extremely mentally and physically care burden for caregivers. Even though the excretion care robot has been invented to automatically deal with excretion care, there is a lack of quantitative research on its effectiveness in alleviating care burden. Therefore, using a time-study technique, this study quantitatively analyzed the behavior of the excretion robot. Method: Those who were trained to use the excretion care robot were filmed to understand the manner in which they used the robot on a mannequin with similar anatomy to that of a human being. The video was recorded according to the time-study technique, with behaviors recorded along the time axis. Among the behaviors recorded, those with similarities state were grouped together. Non-routine care behaviors arising from the usage of the robot were excluded from the study.
