In 『Kyungheon"s book』, one of Crown Prince Hyo myeong"s collections of literature, it was confirmed that Crown Prince Hyo myeong"s extensive knowledge of tea and his daily tea life in real life through Dasi (tea poem) shared with aides from Chunbang (the Crown Prince Education Office) and Gyebang (the Crown Prince Guard Office) as a study at various places in Changdeokgung Palace) and Dasi (tea poem) that he sang alone in the tea room.
In addition, the space of Crown Prince Hyo myeong, several buildings are shown separately from Donggung, which is the daily space area of the Crown Prince, drawn in Donggweoldo, which is presumed to have been made during the period of interim overseeing of dynastic governance, by Crown Prince Hyo myeong. Especially, Munhwagak and the Chinese-style building with the name Shufangzhai are unique buildings that cannot be seen in previous palaces. Since the 18th century, Park Ji-won and Hong Dae-yong’s Yeonhengrok became a must-read book for the gentry, the Qing dynasty culture that imported into the Upper-Class Female Readership and Yeohang Street was brought into the royal family of Joseon.
Crown Prince Hyo myeong was also active in the enjoyment of advanced learning and culture in the Qing Dynasty. During his Interim overseeing of dynastic governance, there is a Chinese-style building with a gambrel roof on the north side of Jungheedang, which he used as a political party. In the center, there is a plaque called Munhwagak and in the east, Shufangzhai .
Listening to the stories of the priests who visited as envoys of the Qing Dynasty, we can see the preference and longing of Crown Prince Hyo myeong, who wanted to enjoy the Qing Dynasty court culture in the middle of the Joseon palace though he had never been to Qing through a building that mimics the Qing Dynasty engravings, hung Munhwagak, the performance space of the Qing emperor, and Shufangzhai, the emperor"s banquet space, side by side were in a plaque.
Crown Prince Hyo myeong is thought to have frequently met with the from Chunbang and Gyebang and he also must have heard the news of the Qing Dynasty by inviting envoys from the Qing Dynasty to serve tea during the Interim overseeing of dynastic governance.
`This study aims to focuses on Crown Prince Hyo myeong, the "tea-loving Crown Prince of Joseon" by examines whether the name of the tea room and the building with the name of the tea house in Dasi recorded in the Kyungheon"s book, are real, or a combination of several halls and pavilions. We will also examine Donggung area, the living space of the crown prince, the political and learning space of Crown Prince Hyo myeong, and the pavilion of Huwon, the resting and creative space of Crown Prince Hyo myeong.
