This article is designed to suggest a missiologically possible way of building up a missional church online in digital era that has been radically invading our daily life and opened up a new world that human beings never experienced before. In other to achieve this goal, this article firstly analyze briefly the logics of pro-online church (in some sense contra-traditional church) and of contra-online church, traditional church. In doing so, it can be appreciated that the debate between pro-online church and contra-online church is primarily about socio-cultural issue, namely about whether accepting an emerging socio-cultural upheaval as it is or not.
It is no doubt that we should consider a socio-cultural context serioutly as we try to establish a unique and specific mission strategy for a mission field as possible as. However, in order to establish a missional church online, this article argues it to be preferentially required to lay mission theological foundation first. Then, it is possible to understand socio-cultural environment to which the mission theological foundation is to be applied and planted in order to build up a missional community. Based on this idea, this article secondly introduces three mission theological themes, missio Dei, the kingdom of God, and the gospel of the kingdom of God as the mission theological foundation for establishing a missional church online. Finally, encouraging the readers to face the online digital world as it is as a new mission frontier(that is, online) having its own unique socio-cultural characteristics, this article suggests to take close look at the new mission frontier with the missiological perspective of missio Dei in order to establish a missional church online.
