The effect of additives such as sodium silicate, waste oil, and aluminum on characterization of spherical ceramic support manufactured by the mixture of spent foundry sand (SFS) and sewage sludge is examined. The effect of acid treatment on characterization of ceramic support is also estimated with using nitric acid and sulfuric acid in forming process. Furan sand among SFSs is used and sewage sludge which comes from a wastewater treatment facility in Y city is used after drying at least 24 hrs at 105?. Characterization on ceramic support is estimated by bulk density, porosity, compressive strength, and chemical resistance. Sewage sludge is used to forming ceramic support because there is a sufficient phosphate in sewage sludge which may be lead to oxidation-reduction reaction. As increasing the content of sodium silicate, porosity is decreased but compressive strength and chemical resistance are increased. At 5% of the content of sewage sludge, compressive strength of ceramic support is high at 2% of waste oil. As increasing the content of aluminum, porosity is slightly decreased but compressive strength and chemical resistance are significantly increased. With respect to acid treatment, compressive strength and durability of ceramic support are improved.
