Characteristics of ceramic support manufactured by mixing spent foundry sand (SFS) with sewage sludge (SS) are examined by changing particle size, content of SS, and parameters in calcination process such as temperature and time. Forming of ceramic support is made by using a extruder. SS is used after stabilization by thermal treatment at 600℃. Characteristics of ceramic support are estimated by bulk density, porosity, chemical resistance, and compressive strength. Characteristics of ceramic support are not effected by SFS particle size. As increasing amount of SS in ceramic support, characteristics of ceramic support are deteriorated because cohesiveness of ceramic support is decreased as content of binder is decreased and organic materials are increased. Calcination temperature and time can be decided by 900℃ and 9 hrs, respectively because ceramic support is the most stable at the conditions. In addition, elevating temperature time can be estimated by 9 hrs because chemical resistance is improved as increasing elevating temperature time and is almost constant after 9 hrs. In this condition, porosity of ceramic support is very high.
