This paper studies the relation of local culture between regional economic development disparity, from thirty one regions in China. Because the empirical studies of China has been stayed basic level, this paper used the cultural indicator of UNESCO, New Zealand Statistics, Korean Culture & Tourism Institute, and established the indicator system. This paper estimates the thirty one regional cultural indicator in 2005. The results find that thirteen region’s cultural indicator higher than national average, five region’s indicator higher than national average in Middle and Western region. And the result indicates that the five autonomous’s cultural indicator lower than national average. To examine the relation regional culture between regional economic development disparity, this paper use the results of cultural indicator estimation, regressed the regional economic growth model. From the regression results, the cultural capital has positive effect to the regional economic development. And the regional economic growth model which been added the cultural capital has higher significance level. As a results, this paper indicates that the local culture plays an important roles in regional economic development. So, for reduce the regional economic development disparity, we need to consider the roles of cultural capital.
