At present, in the field of BIM method, different concepts, applications and protocols of BIM have been suggested across the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) and Facility Management industry. However these BIM guidelines only address theoretical and standardized realms in dealing with practical projects. In order to maximize the benefit of applying BIM method, a new guideline needs to systematically structure the level of details or development (LOD) and to include the implementation variables and complexities in the process for collaboration. This study aims to suggest a executable BIM Plan that includes the level of details or development (LOD) in a new BIM guide-line and BIM collaborative process. The study will propose a LOD on the issues of the practical efficiency and consistency of information flow and BIM utilization for complex and irregular shaped projects, especially. A thorough literature review of existing BIM guidelines and implementation plans was conducted and those documents were compared using a matrix in terms of key issues, such as BIM Goals, Project Management, Modeling, QA/QC and Data Collections. These flowcharts, diagrams, and matrices will guide the practical information chains of LOD for BIM collaborative process that can be utilized in the collaboration among architects, engineering consultants, contractors and clients.
