Bench as one of typical outdoor facilities plays an important role for people who is needed some rest during outdoor activities. It is also considered as an important tourist facility which enhances tourist experience within attractions. Thus, the study aims to examine the locational characteristics and functions of bench in tourist resort complex. It selected Jeju Jungmun Resort Complex as a case and investigated the status of bench, the characteristics and functions of bench as a public tourist outdoor facility. It identified that the total of 314 benches is divided into 46 categories according to its shape and materials. It also highlights the special functions or characteristics of bench such as conveying valuable information, the function of sculpture and the shelter to avoid strong sunshine. Bench layout is showed two ways; single and group. Group layout is installed along the road, established in a line on typical space, and spread out casually in space with same usage. Thus the design of bench in tourist area should consider the special functions of bench and resort’s surroundings in order to enhance tourist experiences as well as the image of tourist destination.
