Mass media reflects the reality. Thus, the study on mass media has been actively done as a way to study and analyze the specific era. Among lots of mass media, especially, drama is the media, reflecting the reality and suggesting social problems into the public-friendly form. The various human characters in a drama represent a person but also let us find the aspect of the human relationships and contemporary society, based on the similar type of human character. Among drama, a one-act play has the meaning of “delving the aspect of the life deeper into”. By reproducing the narration with a strong message into the video during the relatively short time, it lets people face up to the reality and cast light upon the life of a certain person. Thus, “people, isolated by prejudice on them, such as immigrant workers, female marriage immigrants, Chinese-Korean, North Korean defectors and hostess, are usually made to be main characters”. This paper focuses on North Korean defectors, among various human characters in a one-act play. According to the recent statistics, the number of North Korean defectors, living in Korea, becomes over 30,000. It is not that long that North Korean defectors, second-class citizen and minority, start to be in a mass media. Especially, North Korean defectors started to be the main character in a drama, recently, after being cast as one of the surrounding people. In this situation, to investigate the reappearance of North Korean defectors, in a one-act play, will be the way to identify their lives and their social identities, as well, from the modern viewpoint. Thus, studying the aspect of reappearance of North Korean defectors through a one-act play at this stage can be a “sociologic consideration on the contents” and a foundation for the social unification in developmental form.
