Stories are told by visual images of screen in the movie while being told through the language in the novel. The novel creates the image by the language. The image on the novel is not made in advance, but by the reader’s perception. It is not showed but heard and not drawn but drawing. However, the movie creates the image by a story fitting to be put in existing materials and connecting cinema audiences. Nevertheless, The movie version and the book have advanced by intertextuality. This paper is about intertextuality through comparison and analysis between movie and novel of The Great Gatsby. Gatsby’s love for Daisy is the most obvious focus of the plot in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. There are also other love stories of Tom and Daisy’s, Tom and Myrtle’s, even Wilson and Myrtle’s. All the characters in The Great Gatsby are intimately connected to money in some way. And the death of Gatsby, Wilson, and Myrtle is related to the car. The aim of this paper is to study on Intertextuality of The Great Gatsby’s Movie and Novel.
