This study attempted to investigate the importance of the mothers' knowledge of child-rearing in rearing their child in infancy by analyzing the effect of mothers' knowledge of child-rearing on the developmental trajectory of self-efficacy and parenting stress through the application of the multivariate latent growth models. For this purpose, an attempt was made to analyze it by referring to data from the first data of 2008 to the 3rd data of 2010 of the Panel Study on Korean Children(PSKC). As a result, the following findings were obtained: First, analysis of the effect of the mothers' knowledge of child-rearing on the developmental trajectory of self-esteem and parenting stress showed that they had the linear developmental trajectory and that it increased with the passage of time. Second, it was found that their knowledge of child-rearing had a positive effect on the enhancement of their self-esteem and the reduction of their parenting stress and that its effect lasted in a long-term period. This implies that the mothers with a child in infancy are required to have the actual knowledge of child-rearing and that there is a need for more actual intervention to improve their knowledge of child-rearing.
