Objective: In order to compare the surface roughness and micro-hardness of the dentinal surface according to the fluoride topical application method. Methods: Ten extracted Molar teeth were collected and divided with 4 sections along the tooth length to make 40 samples, and classified with 4 group as the control group, fluoride application with the iontophoresis method, fluoride vanish coating group, and APF gel coating group, and observed it with the reflex microscope and test it with the micro-hardness tester. The data were collected and compared with each group. Results: The surface roughness was less in 3 experimental groups than in control (p＜0.05), and the least scratch was seen in fluoride vanish application group. Micro-hardness was more in 2 experimental groups than in control and significantly different in statistical (p＜0.05), and the most in fluoride vanish group and fluoride iontophoresis method group, next. but fluoride gel application group has no different with the control in statistical (p＞0.05). Conclusion: It was recommended to use fluoride iontophoresis method and fluoride vanish, in order to decrease the hypersensitive dentin because of the higher in micro-hardness and less in scratch in both groups than other groups.
