Fan Zhongyan is a famous official and the advocate of new verse style revolution in the Song Dynasty. Being good at composing poem and odes, his writing style is so fresh and mellifluent. Being farsighted in his sentiment, his emotions are fully demonstrated in the description of esceneries. In his essay, Fan zhongyan proclaimed political ideals of Confucianism. Also, He emphasized that education is the foundation of kingship. He believed that schooling is very important to the ruling of a country. School education is so essential. He set up schools all over the country, popularized basic education, transformed social customs and trained large quantities of talents with both ability and political integrity. Fan Zhongyan is very good at rhetoric technique. The sentences in his essay are rhyming couplets. He concentrate important topic in the essay and so effectively expressed his thoughts and emotions by using contrast and comparison.
