This study is to explore the principle dance teaching, especially a criteria of desirable teaching styles. For this, Gibbons, E.' theory based on the spectrum of styles by Mosston, M. and Ashworh, S. was analyzed. The dance teaching styles can be changed according to educational objectives and outcomes. A key premise of the structure about the spectrum is that teachers and learners can make decision in dance lessons. A variety of teaching styles are available. One of them is used for several lessons or the entire unit, and is changed to achieve short-term objectives. Versatile and skillful teachers have the ability to move from one style to another. Therefore, in order to improve a dance class, it is necessary for dance teachers to understand the main features like the process, the role of students and teachers in each styles. They should set goals for diverse learners, select and use proper teaching strategies, and so on. Dance teaching styles can be based on specific lesson and successful class management. As a follow-up study, it will be possible to analyze a case study applied to a variety of teaching styles of dance. In order to explore the possibility of application, the understanding about dance education of school field such as teacher knowledge and belief, educational content, class size etc should be precede.
