The purpose of this research is to investigate the prediction of college students’ achievement with their L2 self-concept. The concept of possible and actual self-concept was incorporated into internal and external orientation for a 2X2 framework of the L2 self-concept. As a result, self-concept consisted of ideal L2 self, imposed L2 self, private L2 self, and public L2 self. Each self-concept had its own sub-factors. Path analysis and structural equation modeling were employed to test the relationship among the four L2 self-concepts and learner achievement, and to predict English reading achievement and the perception of the English class with these variables. The results showed that the private L2 self of learners was able to predict both their achievement and the perception of the English class. However, the other L2 selves could not predict the learner’s achievement. Taking into account the influence of the perception of the English class on the four L2 self-concepts and learner achievement, the direct, indirect effect, and total effect are investigated. The result showed that there was no indirect effect.
