Due to the influence of COVID-19, more and more young people are deciding to return to farming and rural areas, and young people lack experience and knowledge of the region, so they need support and space to determine suitability with the region and build relationships with residents. Therefore, this study conducted case analysis and questionnaire with the aim of expanding the village hall into a temporary residence for young people returning to farming and rural areas and a function of local community space, and the main results are as follows. First, as a result of case analysis of six domestic village halls, it was found that the village hall is the only community space in rural areas, and as the importance of rural communities has grown, many projects are being promoted to use it as a space with various functions. Second, according to a survey of 77 young people aged 19 to 39 who wish to return to farming and rural areas, the survey subjects expected to experience various difficulties and thought they could solve them through exchanges with natives and prior experiences. This was consistent with the advantages of the share house as a temporary residence using the village hall, indicating a high intention to use it. However, it is necessary to secure a space to protect privacy through a separate building, horizontal, vertical expansion, or visual blocking effect, and to repurpose and use the village hall, support from the city or local governments is required.
