Paju was a key point of transportation and defense of two capitals: in the eastern surroundings of Gaegyeong in the Goryeo era; while it was in the western surroundings of Hanyang in the Joseon era. Paju includes two tombs and buildings for kings (neungchim) such as Jangneung and Samneung during the Joseon Dynasty. In the Joseon Dynasty era, Pajumok was a major administrative district, reorganized to 'Pajumok' during the 5th reign of King 'Sejo' of Joseon Dynasty. Pajumok also has a temporary palace(Haenggung) where the king stayed while admiring the royal tombs in Paju. Pajumok Gaeksa (official guesthouse) was converted to a school during the Japanese colonial period when the Joseon Dynasty lost its national power. In this study, the exact location was estimated by analyzing Paju’s local records(Eupji) and old maps, and modern cadastral maps. This thesis confirms the usage behavior of Pajumok and the size of the guest house through the records of the time, such as Authentic Records of the Joseon Dynasty and the Seungjeongwon Diary. Accordingly, a restoration plan was prepared based on the results by analyzing the photos related to the Pajumok guest house. Through the significance of the architectural history of Pajumok Gaeksa, this study intends to serve as a contribution to the Pajumok's restoration work in the future.
