This research aims to develop women’s clothing by understanding and applying the morphological characteristics of Po from the early Joseon Dynasty. A pre-study was conducted on design development using Hanbok to consider the structural features of the Joseon Dynasty Collar, applying this to modern costume design. A study was also completed on the modern Jeogori design using the shape of Jeogori’s Moo from the Joseon Dynasty, but most previous research was designed using the morphological features of Po, and there were limitations in terms of materials and design for use as ordinary clothes. With the growing interest in Hanbok, various styles of design are required. It is time to study the design of women"s clothing using various items and materials, skirts and Jeogori. Therefore, this study aims to contribute to the diversification and popularization of women"s clothing, applying characteristics of Hanbok by analyzing the morphological features of Po, the outer garment used in the Joseon Dynasty, when women were as active as they are today. The current status of women"s clothing using Po was analyzed through prior research analysis, including data from the Internet and social media. The results indicated that designs applying the characteristics of Po were needed. The culture of early Joseon and morphological characteristics of early Joseon Po were then analyzed from precedent research. Based on the findings, three jackets and four coats that can easily be incorporated into modern women’s fashion.
