In children’s and adolescent literature, the categories of humans and animals have been ambiguous and arbitrary. The talking animals and the moving things make readers consider the strict division and the gaps between human and non-human. “Cogito, Ergo Sum” is one of the fundamental elements of Western philosophy. This entity with thinking ability is regarded as human. However, the criterion matters; it depends on whether the person is he/white/adult/normal/logical/rational/with authorities or not. By this criterion, women, children and adolescence, who are immature/ignorant/uneducated/emotional/irrational/without authorities, are represented as non-human being and isolated others such as cyborg and clones. Matt the clone is created as a donor of old El Patron’s desire for everlasting life, and Jenna the cyborg is regained her body through Bio-Gel by the illegal result of her parents’ adorable love. The point is that they are barely human, because Matt is just a product/copy of original human, and Jenna is a product/mixture of ten percent of her original brain and Bio-Gel. Through struggling with authorities which try to oppress and control them and realizing what/who they are, Matt and Jenna questioned not only their identity and the definition of human, but also ethics of the development of technology. Their physical bodies were partial, illegitimate, and abnormal. Children’s and adolescent bodies in these novels are examined as controlled and modified ones by the adult/authorities. In addition, the relation between human and the darker side of the development of technology is questioned as well.
