In Vietnam, the Thanh Giong festival at Phu Dong and Soc temples is a special cultural phenomenon. Combining many unique cultural classes, this festival has not only become a research topic of many domestic and foreign scientists but is also honored by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Up to the present time, the research achievements of this festival are superficial with hundreds of large and small research projects, including many in-depth studies. Before these achievements of high scientific value, in order to avoid repeating the existing research results, in this article, I approach the Thanh Giong festival from a new research orientation: Cultural ecology. Applying the theory of cultural ecology, I have analyzed, interpreted and drawn new scientific conclusions about the process of the formation of indigenous cultural values of the agricultural population, the integration mechanism of this cultural value during the festival of Thanh Giong. The 21st century, entering the 4.0 technology revolution, in the context of humanity has been facing non-traditional security challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, nuclear energy development…then the views on engineering, technology, exploitation and control of energy sources that directly affect the cultural creation process of the Cultural ecology theory are still valid. Applying the rational nuclei of this theory will help the researcher continue to explain many urgent cultural issues in the current globalization context.
