In nowadays product design and development process, multiple products and services tend to be functionally integrated into one multi-purposes artifact. In order to strengthen the practical utility of technology acceptance model within multi-purposes artifacts environment, this study suggests multi-dimensional approaches for perceived usefulness constructs and presents its application to social network service industry as an example. To obtain more detailed direction for product designers, perceived usefulness constructs were subdivide into two perceived usefulness for utilitarian purposes and hedonic purposes respectively and their roles were investigate within a unified model. This research uses 301 samples for empirical analysis , it was confirmed that the role of the four perceived usefulness constructs varies in the technology acceptance model. The result of this research shows that the utilitarian purposes(perceived usefulness for coordination and perceived usefulness for immediate access) and hedonic purposes(perceived usefulness for leisure) affect on attitude significantly. On intention to use, only the perceived usefulness for coordination was revealed to have significant direct influence. This approach for extended technology acceptance model can give useful insights to the product and service designers as a tool for the product design process and usability test of other multi-purposes products as well as those of the information systems.
