The human gut commensal bacteria Faecalibacterium prausnitzii is well known for its anti-inflammatory effects that improve host intestinal health. Although several studies reported that inulin, one of the well-known prebiotics, increases the abundance of F. prausnitzii in the intestine, the mechanism under this effect of inulin remains unclear.
