Major purposes of using wet wipes by consumers are not only to clean the food-contact surfaces but also to remove the microbial contaminants. However, the evaluation on the decontamination efficacy of domestic commercial wet wipes has been limited to the preservation test without considering the wiping effects. In this study, we modified the 4-field test method designed for investigating the biocidal effects of wet wipes (EN 16615) to identify the major determinant factors on the removal of bacteria on the surface by the simulation of consumers’ actual use of wipes.
