The present study evaluated the effect of a low molecular weight fucoidan obtained from a celluclast extract of Sargassum siliquastrum (S. siliquastrum) against improvement of skin inflammation and moisturizing effect caused by ultraviolet B (UVB) exposure in HaCaT cells. First of all, we prepared the four kinds of polysaccharides (SSS1, SSS2, SSS3 and SSS4) from the celluclast extract of S. siliquastrum by a step gradient ethanol precipitation.
