The current pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) as well as previous outbreaks of influenza, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV) and SARS-CoV represent global concerns. Bio-aerosol sampling is essential for monitoring airborne pathogens. Electrostatic precipitation (EP), which is an efficient sampling method to collect particles as hydrosols, inevitably generates reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) that can be dissolved in the sampling liquid and damage the collected bio-aerosols. Previously, ascorbic acid mixed in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) solution, was reported to be beneficial to counterac ... View All
