The GCF can play a pivotal role in achieving positive climate, air quality and health outcomes by ensuring its funded projects properly integrate the benefits that accrue from mitigating both air pollution and climate change. There are tools that practitioners can use to estimate the air pollutant outcomes for different countries and quantify them. GCF approaches air pollution via incorporating the benefit impacts in our mitigation projects, and not air pollution per se.
The Green Climate Fund has been making significant contribution to help developing countries to mitigate their GHG emissions and adapt to climate change by financing transformational projects across areas of investment with high climate impact such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and transport. Our current portfolio includes almost 200 projects in more than 140 countries at USD 30B, including co-financing.
