Teaching cases are practical educational materials, providing us with an opportunity to have an active learning experience and derive experiential payback. This teaching case in cross-cultural higher education aims to discuss the challenges and learn key lessons from a true story of the authors by introducing a real-life example of exchanging intangible culture. A M?ori poi dance group in New Zealand was invited by Seongju-gun County for the 7th Seongju International Life Culture Festival 2018. In contrast to the fame of the haka as a M?ori war dance, M?ori women's poi performance is relatively less known to Korean. Our efforts in coordinating multiple organizations between two countries for the invitation of the M?ori group to the Korean cultural event turned out to be rewarding and had a happy ending; however, the roles across the stakeholders were challenging in nature because of the process of decision-making and the issues of fundraising in the M?ori community, in addition to our lack of practical knowledge about M?ori's unique culture. By sharing our hands-on activities in a cultural exchange engagement, this teaching material can be used as an exemplary case along with the lessons learned from the M?ori's visit to Korea, applying to a role-play and a group discussion across higher education students.
