Due to the features of the space, there are many things to consider in indoor air quality management of large spaces facilities compared to other facilities, and it is one of the places where air pollution management is urgently required as a major source of COVID-19 cluster infection in Korea. As the need for air pollutant management in large space facilities emerged, this study aims to analyze the effect of improvement of indoor air quality through Air Handing Unit (AHU) in a large religious facility where regular religious activities take place. First, a literature survey was conducted for investigation of relevant regulatory criteria, prior studies. And during the filed application evaluation, evaluation cases were divided according to the filter type of AHU, operation of the air purifier, circulation module, and air flow volume. The analysis of measurement data presented results by comparing reduction efficiency according to circulation module considering outdoor air quality, comparing fine dust reduction efficiency compared to energy consumption according to air flow volume, and comparing air pollutant reduction efficiency between operation of AHU solely and simultaneous operation of air purifier. Finally, the conclusion sought to propose an optimal solution for interlocking operation of AHU and air purifier.
