This article aims to suggest the role and responsibility of the Church in a post-pandemic era of COVID-19 from a biblical-theological perspective. After a brief overview of COVID-19 and its effects, I assert fundamental solution(s) in overcoming the post pandemic era. COVID-19 has shaken and shattered our present normal including our faith and more importantly, our worship service. As Apostle Paul insists with regard to the opportunity for advancing the gospel (Phil 1:12), it is certain that the COVID pandemic provides opportunity for our faith. COVID has forced us to recall the fundamental foundation of Christianity. The fundamental solution for our era is to consider the pandemic situation in reference to the Bible—our faith, life, and worship. We must return to the foundation, the Bible and Jesus Christ, as the Reformers did during the crisis of the Medieval Church. Here I suggest two solutions: the first is to return to the Bible, the rock of our faith (Isa. 1:10; 66:6; 40:8; Pss. 1:2; 19:7; 119:105;, 1 Pet. 1:24-25; Matt. 7:24-25); the second is to return to Jesus Christ, our rock (1 Cor. 10:4; Heb. 1:2; 4:14; 12:2; 13:8). Jesus Christ is the solid rock of our faith, worship, and life even in the midst of a pandemic. Lastly, in order to overcome the COVID crisis, we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit and participate in the Spirit’s groan (Rom. 8:26) for the people experiencing loss, grief, and anxiety. Finally, I propose some practical suggestions from 1 Peter: active observation of the rules in preventing COVID pervasion along with the understanding of the foundation of our faith and our identity as Christians.
