As benzylpenicillin have been widely used for livestock as veterinary drug to treat bacterial infections so continuous monitoring of its residue is demanded in edible tissues for human health. The permitted residue concentration in kidney is below 50ng/g to be considered safe to eat. We have determined the correlation of depletion and residue pattern of the benzylpenicillin between the kidney and urine at the farm stage which could predict the actual residual concentration in the tissue and prevent the residue violation at the inspection of slaughter. Tissue distribution of benzylpenicillin was studied in pigs after triple intramuscular injection at 20mg/kg body weight with two days interval as recommended from the licensed products.
