This study first analyzes the relationship between “ink” and "soul" in ink painting, and emphasizes the importance of ink. The production process of the new media art-work “Different Appearance of Running Water”, is then examined, with a focus on the ways in which the artist combines the characteristics of ink painting with new media art techniques to create a vivid work with soul and flavor. This case study is used to understand the ways in which new media technology can expand older from of artistic expression. In today"s rapidly changing world, only by virtue of its own civilization, history-endowed experience and cultural characteristics, can Chinese culture obtain a dominant position in the international cultural environment through creative practice and theoretical analysis, and thereby promote the modernization of Chinese painting.
