The West Papua water is one of the most important areas for the commercial lobster fisheries in Indonesia. Stock assessment is needed to develop management strategies for sustainable lobster fisheries in West Papua. This research aimed to understand the stock status and to develop the management tools for lobster fisheries in West Papua. The time series catch and effort data from 2,006 to 2,016 were used to examine status of fishing effort level and stock biomass level. The length-based assessment of painted spiny lobster (Panulirus versicolor) stock was conducted to analyze the yield per recruit and spawning stock biomass per recruit.
