Background/Aims
Multiple myeloma remains a substantial public health burden with extensive clinical and socioeconomic impact. Due to the high therapy cost in the recent years, comparative cost effectiveness studies are needed to support decision makers to allocate efficient health care resources in clinical practice. The objective of this study was to conduct a systematic literature review, assessing the cost effectiveness of different types of transplant compared to conventional chemotherapy for multiple myeloma patients.
Methods
A systematic literature search was performed in PubMed and CEA Registry with pairing relevant keywords to identify English language articles published from inception to April 2021. The eligible studies comparing the cost effectiveness of transplant and conventional chemotherapy. The Quality of Health Economic Studies (QHES) instrument (ranges from 0-100) was used for critical appraisal of included studies.
