Background/Aims
Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the second most common cancer among men in Korea and the third most common among women. Patients aged >65 years comprise most of the CRC patients. The incidence rates for adolescents and young adults have been increasing steadily while a incidence of CRC in older population have declining trend in recent decades. Several studies have been conducted accordingly, and it is suggested that CRC of the younger generation, is based on complex causes and that clinical molecular biology features different from those of the previously known colon cancer, so it should be differentiated in screening and treatment. Therefore the aim of this study was to analysis of the clinical, pathological, and molecular biological characteristics of CRC under the age of 50 by comparing them with the previously known characteristics of CRC.
Methods
Between January 2009 and December 2018, we selected 1126 CRC patients from National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital.
