Introduction and Background
Press-fit humeral stem for primary reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) have advantages of preserving bone stock, short operation time and easier revision with similar clinical outcome. Despite the advantages, one of the most important problems of press-fit stem is stress shielding. The purpose of this study was (1) to evaluate the stress shielding effect by small humeral stem with bone graft and 2) to compare the radiologic outcomes, clinical outcomes, and complications between the small and large humeral stem.
Material and Method
From January 2016 to March 2019, 57 patients underwent non-cemented RSA using Exactech Equinoxe were included. Patients were divided into two cohorts of high FR (n=25) and low FR (n=32) group. In low FR group, we packed the autologous cancellous bone from humeral head into the canal to surround the stem.
