The purpose of this study was to examine the longitudinal relationships among multicultural mothers’ acculturative stress, parental behaviors perceived by adolescent children, and school adjustment. Using three waves of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study, autoregressive cross-lagged models were estimated. Results indicated that mothers’ acculturative stress, parental behaviors perceived by adolescent children, and school adjustment were relatively stable over the 3-year period. Mothers’ acculturative stress negatively and subsequently predicted both parental behaviors and school adjustment. However, no significant effects were found in the associations between parental behaviors and school adjustment and mothers’ subsequent acculturative stress. Parental behaviors perceived by adolescent children were significantly and reciprocally associated with school adjustment over time. Based on these results, the implications and limitations of the current study were discussed.
